George N. Briggs Jr.

On Thursday, December 23, 2021, George N. Briggs, Jr., age 96, of Baldwin Boro, passed away with his family by his side. Son of the late George, Sr. and Mildred Briggs; beloved husband of nearly 68 years to the late Louise J. Briggs; father of George (the late Jan) N. Briggs, III, Gerald (ex Sandy) Briggs, and Gary (partner Jackie) Briggs; father-in-law of the late Sandy Briggs; grandfather of Corey (Jen) Briggs, Justin (Hayley) Briggs, Brad (Morgan) Briggs, Curtis Briggs, Kimberly (Scott) McIntosh, Traci Briggs, and Brian (Heather) Briggs; great-grandfather of Emily Briggs, Macie Briggs, Theo Briggs, and Kayleigh Briggs, Hannah, Rebecca and Sarah McIntosh, and eagerly awaiting the arrival of great-granddaughter, Isla; brother of Grace Lawther; predeceased by sisters Sarah and Stella, and brother William; also survived by many nieces and nephews. George served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed for 33 years by General Motors' Fisher Body Plant in West Mifflin, PA. He was an active member of the Baldwin United Presbyterian Church since 1965. He also volunteered at Jefferson Hospital for many years after his retirement. Due to current events, services will be held privately for the immediate family, followed by interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
