Mildred A. Lober

On Monday, October 2, 2023, Mildred A. “Millie” (Kratt) Lober, age 87, passed away peacefully with her three daughters by her side. Beloved wife of the late Deacon Edward J. Lober; loving mother of Theresa (Scott) Lober McIlhenny, Maretta (Scott) Kingsley and Andrea (Ron) Lober Rockovich; grandmother of Mallory, Lauren, Kyra, Cameron, Aidan and Julia. Originally of Baldwin, PA, Millie resided for many years in Whitehall, PA, then for 30 years in Batavia, Illinois, and most recently in Pittsburgh. Millie was the daughter of the late Jeffrey and Helen Kratt, and sister of Jeff (Judy) Kratt, John (Ellie) Kratt, and Patty (Bill) Holmes, and the late Helen “Chookey” and Ron Jones, Jenny and Chuck Schorr, Joe (survived by Ro) Kratt, Rose Ann Kratt, and Daniel Kratt (survived by Gail Freynik); also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends in Pittsburgh and Batavia, Illinois. Millie was a devout Catholic and devoted her life to service in the church, as an Oblate of St. Benedict at the Marmion Abbey, as a Eucharistic Minister, as a member of the Legion of Mary, as a funeral choir member, as a member of the Pro-life community of Holy Cross Parish, and at daily mass. Millie was committed to a practice of daily prayer of the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Millie also devoted herself to her family, writing countless letters of love and encouragement to her whole family and especially to her grandchildren, always in her lovely penmanship, and surprising her family with delightful and thoughtful gifts and treats. Millie was an adventurous traveler, making pilgrimages to the Holy Land, to Lourdes, France, and to Rome, and to many scenic sites across Illinois and Pennsylvania. Millie and Ed loved to run, bike, garden, and enjoy dinners outdoors, and taught their family to care for all things in nature. Millie especially delighted in her garden, and every blooming flower, singing bird, and chirping squirrel was a joy to her. Millie and Ed appreciated music and song, and as beautiful dance partners always relished the chance to take a spin on the dance floor. We take comfort in knowing that they are dancing together again in heaven. Funeral prayer Saturday, October 7 at 9:30 a.m. at Griffith Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 310 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, followed by interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2900 Washington Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
