Larry M. Arch

On June 24, 2024, Larry M. Arch, age 89, of Castle Shannon, formerly of Eighty-Four and Willock, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and Charles Arch and his infant son Todd. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Anna Mae (Vodzak) Arch; his three daughters, Lisa (Michael) Streiff of Wexford, Renee (Matthew) Decker of Slippery Rock, and Kelly (Keith) Opel of Friedens; his three cherished grandsons Alec, Tanner (Paige), and Peyton; his sister Phyllis Schaner; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Larry was a devoted and active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church where he ushered mass, worked the weekly bingo, and was a member of Ben’s Men. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of VFW Post #764 in McMurray. Larry was a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Time spent with family and friends meant the world to him. He was genuinely kind, humble, generous and an all-around good person. Family, friends and strangers alike were recipients of his goodwill. He was a role model to many and loved by all. His was a life well lived. Larry liked to keep moving. He took pride in maintaining the family home and you could usually find him on his lawn tractor or working on some project in the yard. In his 40’s and 50’s he was an avid runner, competing in 5 marathons and countless 5k and 10k races. He was adventurous and enjoyed exploring the great outdoors. Larry loved to travel, camping all over the United States with his family. He also vacationed in Alaska, Hawaii, Greece, Italy and took several cruises including a European river boat cruise. He enjoyed the game of golf and was a member of the Sixty Plus Golf League. Other hobbies and interests included woodcarving and woodworking, drawing, hiking, walking and fishing. Family and friends will be received Friday, June 28th from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the GRIFFITH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5636 Brownsville Road, (at 6th St.) South Park Twp. (412) 655-4600.
